The Game: UNC was playing their first game in Philadelphia and their third ever game against Indiana in the NCAA tournament. The first two times, UNC lost, including once in the city of Brotherly Love. Kennedy Meeks was not having a good tournament. In his previous five games he was averaging 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Apparently the Hoosiers woke him up. He went for 15 points and nine rebounds, four of which were offensive boards. This game will always be remembered as the game Paige broke out his three, but it is also the game that Kennedy became relevant again.

The Play: Meeks did have one play where he received the ball, made a spin move and hit a shot while getting fouled. He did this over Thomas Bryant, who is considered by most to be an NBA lottery pick whenever he decides to go pro. However, the top play in that game was a play he started that had the potential to be bad for UNC.

Kennedy Meeks, as he is inclined to do, poked the ball away as it was being passed into the post. A lot of times a Carolina player would recover the loose ball and that would lead to a fast break. This was not one of those times. Instead Yogi Ferrell recovered and sped right to the basket. The only thing was that Brice Johnson jumped a mile into the air and blocked the living daylights out of the ball. It was one of the best blocks I have ever seen and it wouldn’t have been made possible if not for a Kennedy Meeks defensive effort.
