In a year in which ESPN made an embarrassing effort to showcase LSU’s freshman forward Ben Simmons, it was Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield who stole the show.

From the beginning of the season, it was clear that Hield was going to have a special senior campaign. He opened the season with a 30-point showing against the Memphis Tigers and never really slowed down from there.

He scored 25 or more points in 19 games this season and has scored 36 or more in three of his last six games leading up to the Final Four. It’s numbers like these that landed Hield on every first-team All-American squad known to the sport of basketball.

The Sooners go as Buddy Hield goes, which could take them a long way. But if Hield has a poor shooting night, where does that leave an Oklahoma team that relies so heavily on the jump shots of their superstar?
