1997 Arizona Wildcats

Arizona was led by Mike Bibby, Miles Simon, Jason Terry and Michael Dickerson. This team beat UNC in the national semifinal game, 66-58. Simon led all scorers with 24 points, along with five rebounds and five assists. Bibby added 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Carolina was led by Vince Carter (21 points, six rebounds and two assists) and Antawn Jamison (18 points, 11 rebounds and two assists). Both teams shots poorly in the national semifinal. North Carolina shot 31% from the field while Arizona shot 33% from the field.

They became the eventual national champions after they defeated the defending champions, Kentucky 84-79 in overtime.  Although Arizona was a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, they defeated three No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament (Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky). They finished the season with a 25-9 record.
