The Iowa State Cyclones have had an up and down season, but Georges Niang has been terrific throughout.

The 6-8, 230-pound forward can play all over the court. His 19.8 points per game rank second in the Big 12 only to Buddy Hield’s 25. He rebounds well. He can distribute to teammates. He rises to the occasion when his team needs him.

Unfortunately, Niang’s team hasn’t been as successful this year as he has individually. They stumble into the tournament at 21-11, just hoping to make it past upstart Iona.

It’ll take another solid performance from Niang and his running mates to avoid the first round upset that is being predicted by so many.
