#3: 72-71 win vs. Louisville
As a sign of what is likely to come out of Louisville joining the ACC is an awful lot of great games between the Cardinals and the Tar Heels, and this season is clearly the proper precedent. January 10 was round one of this season’s matchup, and it certainly did not disappoint. Very opposite of the second game (above), the first meeting between these two squads was a comeback victory FOR North Carolina.
The final nine minutes saw the Tar Heels charge back from a 13 point deficit to win this game in Chapel Hill. Louisville began to crack under an unusually loud Dean Dome crowd’s pressure, and UNC took advantage. Marcus Paige had been in a minor slump for much of the season, and had some nagging foot and ankle injuries coming into the game. However, in clutch time, the preseason ACC Player of the Year delivered with this last moment scoop to win the game:
