#4: 78-68 OT loss at Louisville
Any game that manages its way into overtime has to be exciting at one point or another. The January 31 rematch (round one below) between UNC and Louisville was no different. Even though it may have been a heartbreaker of a loss for the Tar Heels, giving up a 10 point lead late in the game for the Cardinals to force OT, the game itself still lived up to the hype of any game between two high-caliber programs such as these.
For Tar Heel fans, UNC provided a very exciting first half, dominating the boards, and accumulating 11 points from offensive rebounds alone. However, none of those points would come in the second half or OT. Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell caught fire after the first half, scoring 14 of his 22 points on the night after halftime. The trio of Harrell, Terry Rozier, and Chris Jones brought all the excitement to the second half with a flurry of 3-point shots, and “and-1” opportunities. If UNC put up any sort of a fight in overtime, this game could have had the potential to be ranked much higher on this list.
