4.  Mack Hollins’ three long touchdown receptions

Background: Mack Hollins was one of the best stories this year for UNC, as the former walk-on was second on the team in receiving yards and second in the ACC in receiving touchdowns.  Hollins displayed his blazing speed early in the year, as he ran past San Diego State’s defense for a 91 yard touchdown reception that changed that game.  He also had touchdown receptions of 57 and 63 yards against Virginia, helping the Tar Heels come from behind to win.

Greatness Score: 7/10

These catches were electrifying and helped the Heels win two close games.  Also, these plays were plenty difficult.  On his 91 and 63-yard receptions, Hollins simply outran the defense, which is not an easy thing to do in college football.  His 57-yarder was his most impressive, though, as he caught the pass over one defender and made another defender miss on his way to the end zone.  Hollins only caught 34 passes this year, but when he got the ball in his hands he was always dangerous and very fun to watch.
