7. Charlie Scott
Whether if it was on the court or off the court, this guy was a pioneer. During his three seasons in Chapel Hill Charlie averaged 22.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game but he was much more important than even the numbers suggest, being that he was the first African-American to receive a scholarship at UNC. With all the pressure in the world on him, all Charlie did was produce. The 6’5 silky smooth shooting guard was matchup nightmare, he lead the Tar Heels to back to back Final Fours (’68 & ’69) and during his senior campaign Scott dropped 27.1 a night. Over the years, there have been many great players to call UNC home but I’m not sure if any has been as important as Charlie Scott.
