Rank ‘Em: Top 5 Players for UNC Basketball in 2014-15
Overall:
This team is so deep and talent-laden there could be a number of changes to the top five in the reader’s eyes. Theo Pinson and Joel Berry weren’t even mentioned in this article and they are two of the most talented freshman in the country. It’s a good problem to have for Coach Williams and his staff. In summation the top five players for the Heels next year need to do the following.
- Paige, Johnson, and Jackson need to hit the weight room.
- Meeks needs to hit the treadmill.
- Tokoto needs to channel his inner Ray Allen to shoot, shoot, and shoot some more.
Above all else, this team cannot win a national title next season unless they all realize it’s a marathon and not a sprint. This past season should be all the proof the team needs. A seven seed versus an eight seed for the national championship goes to show that anything is fixable. Kentucky was a top ranked team to start the year and fell off the rails a bit, before going on their run. UConn just kept getting better and believed in their system before they went on their run. If the season gets going next year and some of the young guys (Pinson, Jackson, Berry) aren’t world beaters right away, that’s okay. There is going to be a learning curve with a team as deep as the Heels will be next year. All of the supporters of this team need to be patient and see the big picture.
As always I want to hear back from the Carolina faithful. Let me know your top five for next season, how or why you’d change any of those on my list, and your thoughts on this article. Go Heels!
