Honorable Mention: Evert Withers (2011 – Interim) Record: 7-6 (.538)

I didn’t think it was fair to rank him against the other coaches on this list as he was only there for the short team following the scandal the football program went through in 2010. Considering all the distractions that the 2011 team had to deal with, I would say Everett Withers did a great job keeping that team on the right track. They finished 7-6 in his only season as head coach at UNC. The offense had record setting seasons by Dwight Jones (79 receptions) and Bryn Renner (23 TD passes) in the process. Withers deserved to be mentioned for stepping in and keeping the program moving forward. He has since accepted a position at James Madison University to serve as their next head coach.
