UNC Basketball: Top Five Moments From 2013-14 Season
By Zack Pearson
3. UNC upsets #1 Michigan State
As soon as I saw the ACC/BIG 10 schedule released, I immediately worried about UNC’s matchup at Michigan State. The Spartans entered the game as the #1 team in the country and one of the favorites to go deep in March.
UNC was still young and looking for an identity in the season. After the game, I felt a whole lot better about this team. This was the best all-around game the Tar Heels played all season long. It also improved Roy Williams record against Tom Izzo to 7-0.
They dominated from the start and never looked back en-route to a 14 point win on the road against the #1 team in the nation. The Tar Heels got a big game from Kennedy Meeks who finished with 15 points.
The win was a big one for the Heels, especially since they were coming off of a loss at UAB.
