UNC Basketball: Historical Games and Moments against NC State

March 9^th, 1997: It looked like the Wolfpack were up to its old tricks again in the 1997 ACC Tournament, winning 3 games in 3 days to reach the tournament final including knocking off top-seed Duke become the only 8 seed to beat the 1 seed in tournament history. However N.C. State ran out gas when they faced a loaded Tar Heel team with superstars Antwan Jamison, Vince Carter, and stud freshman point guard Ed Cota. Shammond Williams would win tournament MVP in the 64-54 win. The win would give Dean Smith his 13^th ACC Tournament title and his 60^th and final win over N.C.State.
