Andrew Wiggins’ High School Coach Confirms #1 Prep Player Wants To Visit UNC On March 9th
Ben Williams of Keeping It Heel has confirmed with the rumor we previously posted that Andrew Wiggins is targeting March 9th for a visit to Chapel Hill via his high school coach Rob Fulford. That date is significant in many ways for North Carolina as it marks the season finale for the Tar Heels and a home match up with arch rival Duke. (Keeping It Heel)

Dean Smith’s memory fading, but not his record
Dean Smith’s office still has the lights on. The name is still on the desk, with mementos on the wall and pictures of his grandchildren on the shelves. This is Monday morning, and he is scheduled to be in later, for he still usually visits the first three workdays each week. But there will be little conversation with anyone, because one of the greatest basketball coaches the game has ever seen now dwells in the darkness. (USA Today)

Tar Heels staying with same starting 5
Whether it was giving up the first 12 points to Virginia Tech, the first nine points to Miami, the first six points to N.C. State or eight of the first 10 points to Boston College, North Carolina consistently has gotten off to slow starts recently. Roy Williams has used the same starting five since conference play began, and he showed no indication he would change against the Blue Devils. (Durham Herald-Sun)

Rivals UNC, NC State Dream Big As Baseball Season Begins
For the first time entering a season, rivals North Carolina and NC State are ranked in the Top 10. The Tar Heels are preseason No. 1 according to Baseball America and Perfect Game and are ranked no lower than fourth in the five primary polls. The Wolfpack checks in at No. 8 in the Baseball America poll and are ninth in two polls and 11th in two others. (College Baseball Insider)

UNC notes: Bouncing back, starting five
Roy Williams used a plethora of different combinations to try to get something going at Miami, saying Monday: “If you’re getting your tail beat by 26, I don’t think you can stay with the same lineup. I think you have to keep trying to change some things.” But one combination he hasn’t changed recently: the starting lineup. (ESPN.com)

Tar Heels need Paige to shine against Duke for must-see TV
The best rivalry in college basketball resumes Wednesday night. No, Louisville and Kentucky aren’t playing again. North Carolina, which is unranked and on the bubble, travels to Duke, which trails Miami by two games in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. The Hurricanes, playing at home, beat the Blue Devils by 27 points and UNC by 26. (Fayetteville Observer)

UNC doesn’t pass ‘eye test’ for NCAA consideration
Only two of Roy Williams’ 25 basketball teams failed to play in the NCAA Tournament. At 16-7 overall (6-4 in the ACC), UNC appears on course for a lower seed to The Big Dance. But the schedule ahead has enough rough spots, and that Carolina’s resume is very un-Carolina-like, it could lead to some teeth-gnashing by Tar Heels fans come Selection Sunday. (Fox Sports Carolinas)
