Saunders: Kupec-Hansbrough relationship is our business if money was misused
It would be unusual, sure, but UNC football coach Larry Fedora might want to call on Chancellor Holden Thorp for help running the offense Saturday. Perhaps Thorp could draw a diagram of that end-around play that he and Vice Chancellor Matt “Kupid” Kupec ran so effectively – for a while, anyway – that let Kupec get his girlfriend a new university job after the idea was initially rejected. Q&A with associate head coach Vic Koenning
North Carolina associate head coach for defense Vic Koenning discussed his unit’s breakdowns against Wake Forest and offered his opinions on Louisville following practice on Wednesday. Head coach Larry Fedora told us on Monday that the defense had 25 missed assignments – “I think there was 24, to be exact…The problems were mostly not making the transition when they changed formations from one coverage to another.” (Inside Carolina)

Adding Notre Dame likely will preserve UNC-N.C. State tradition
Notre Dame’s arrival to the ACC likely will allow UNC and N.C. State to continue their nearly 100-year-old tradition of playing twice a year. Their home-and-home series, which dates to 1920, was at risk after the ACC moved to an 18-game schedule in anticipation of Pittsburgh and Syracuse joining for the 2013-14 season. Travel review prompts Tami Hansbrough to resign from UNC
A review of travel expenses by the former top fundraiser at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has led to a second resignation at the school. Tami Hansbrough stepped down Wednesday from her job as major gifts officer at UNC. She held the $95,000-a-year job since February 2011 and was placed on administrative leave on Monday. (WRAL.com)

Wednesday Larry Fedora Quotes
“We’re looking forward to this opportunity of going on the road and having the opportunity to play a ranked opponent. Charlie [Strong] has done a great job up there with his football team in a short period of time. They’ve recruited some excellent talent, and we’re really looking forward to see how we measure up.” (Inside Carolina)

Primary partnership for UNC and NC State?
ACC commissioner John Swofford told reporters Wednesday — after a press conference announcing the Irish’s move — that a 15-team, 18-game league slate “in all likelihood” means the conference will go back to two primary partners, guaranteed to play a home-and-home series each season. Asked if that meant the Tar Heels and Wolfpack would return to that primary-partner relationship, Swofford said: “I think that has a good chance of happening.” (ESPN.com)

What to watch: Matt Harvey vs. Nationals
Matt Harvey threw his fastball at its lowest strike rate in his last start against the Cardinals (57 percent) and gave up his most baserunners with it (seven) than in any of his starts so far. The good thing is that there were no issues with its velocity. Harvey averaged 95 miles-per-hour with it, right on par with his season average. (ESPN.com)

Notre Dame To The ACC: What We Now Know
John Swofford addressed the ACC’s change in its long-held stance that all members had to be full members. “What was best 20 years ago isn’t necessarily best in today’s world,” Swofford said. Then came talk about the ACC’s television contract. As expected, Swofford said the ACC would “revisit” the deal with its TV partners (read, ESPN) and that the league had already had some discussions. Administrators Fear Damaging Consequences For UNC Funding After Scandal
As UNC struggles to recover from Vice Chancellor for Advancement Matt Kupec’s resignation, administrators are particularly concerned about the fundraising aspect of the scandal. The university has recently seen its share of scandal, from a two-year NCAA football probe, to the detailed investigation of the African Studies Department. (Chapelboro.com)

UNC Football: Eric Ebron, Carolina’s Security Blanket
He’s 6-4, 234 lbs, and can play all over the field. I’m referring to North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron who is quietly becoming a huge receiving threat for Bryn Renner and the Tar Heels offense. KIH
