Julius Randle Says Roy Williams Out Duals Calipari at In-Home Visits
The #1 prospect in the 2013 class, power forward Julius Randle started his nine day marathon of in-home visits on the 10th hosing NC State and Kentucky. No. 1 Tar Heels Fall At James Madison, 1-0
A penalty in the 42nd minute was the difference Tuesday night as James Madison knocked off No. 1 UNC, 1-0. James Madison earned a free kick late in the first half in the Carolina defensive third and sent the ensuing free kick into the box. Sophomore Jordan McCrary was whistled for a foul in the box, earning a yellow card and giving James Madison a penalty. (GoHeels.com)
UNC’s Kupec worked to establish job eventually given to Tami Hansbrough
A fundraising position at UNC filled by Tami Hansbrough was the result of direct efforts by Matt Kupec, the university’s chief fundraiser who was also in a relationship with her, a top university administrator acknowledged in an interview Tuesday. The $95,000-a-year job for Hansbrough was also funded by Kupec’s office, said Winston Crisp, the university’s vice chancellor for student affairs. (Raleigh News & Observer)
Thorp: UNC strengthening policies in wake of latest black eye
Chancellor Holden Thorp said Tuesday that the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is working to upgrade its internal processes so that issues such as one that led to an administrator’s resignation don’t crop up again. Vice Chancellor for Advancement Matt Kupec stepped down Monday amid an internal investigation into his travel expenses. (WRAL.com)
Sylvester Williams’ career is flourishing at North Carolina
By 6:45 every morning, Sylvester Williams is on the StairMaster, with every sweat-drenched step driving him toward a lofty place in the 2013 NFL Draft. For those who knew UNC’s star defensive tackle as a high school sophomore in Jefferson City, Mo., that’s almost impossible to believe. It’s not that Williams was a “bad kid,” but his priorities didn’t exactly include early mornings or self-discipline. (Sporting News)
