UNC Basketball Recruiting: Troy Wiliams Getting Comfortable With New Teammate Nate Britt
Point guard Nate Britt and small forward Troy Williams will team up for their senior seasons at Oak Hill Academy. Britt is one of two players currently committed to North Carolina in the 2013 class. Williams has an offer from Carolina and has been considering UNC from the start of his wild recruiting journey. Britt […] KIH
Fifth Quarter: Making statements…and a statement win
Positives: Okay, so it was only Elon. But the opponent doesn’t change the fact that new coach Larry Fedora and his spread offense made the early statement it needed to make by rolling up 62 points – just three off the school record and the most since a similar 62-0 win against Ohio in 1995. Tar Heels race to records, open Fedora era
The offense scored as many points as any North Carolina team since 1928, the defense posted its first shutout since 1999 and the special teams set an ACC record for punt return yardage. In the end, Larry Fedora put together the most lopsided debut win in school history. Durham Herald Sun
ACC helmet stickers: Week 1
Giovani Bernard, RB, North Carolina: Granted, it was over Elon, but what Bernard did would have been impressive in the backyard. He had a career-high three first-half touchdowns, (one each rushing, receiving and on a punt return) and finished with 203 all-purpose yards. Bernard finished with 93 yards rushing on just nine carries and two receptions for 10 yards ESPN
What we learned in the ACC: Week 1
One thing is for sure: Giovani Bernard can flourish in the Fed Spread. First-year coach Larry Fedora said all summer that his offense is not just about the receivers, that he wants balance, and Bernard will get his carries. Well, he got his carries and his receptions and his punt return yardage, too. ESPN
UNC Basketball Recruiting: Will a Calm August Bring a Stormy September?
The recruiting world went from dry to disappointing for UNC. The last commit came way back in November of last year. Things were uneventful for quite some time aside for the periodic Troy Williams episode. Then Carolina was eliminated from consideration by several players including Austin Nichols, Nick King and Wayne Selden. Roy Williams top […] KIH
UNC Basketball: Questions Going into the 2012 Season Part I
I thought I would expand on something I touched on earlier this week. North Carolina will have much lower expectations this season due to the large roster turnover it experienced. As a result, Carolina has many question marks going into the 2012 season. UNC still has plenty of talent but when Tyler Zeller, John Henson, […] KIH
UNC Basketball: Predicting Every Game on Tar Heels’ 2012-13 ACC Schedule
The ACC basketball schedule for the 2012-13 season was released on Wednesday, with UNC seemingly having toughest road of them all. In an effort to have some fun—and possibly dig myself a deeper hole, during this long offseason haul—I will give you my predictions for every ACC game on the Tar Heels’ schedule. Bleacher Report
Positives and Negatives: North Carolina Tar Heels Crush Elon Phoenix 62-0
It would be tough for Larry Fedora to ask for a better start to his North Carolina coaching career than laying down a 62-0 romping of their first opponent—albeit Elon. They were still one of only three FBS teams to score 60 points or more in their 2012 opener. Bleacher Report
