DE Marquis Haynes Flips Commitment from Louisville to UNC
New North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora has struck again. Three star defensive end Marquis Haynes has flipped his commitment from Louisville to UNC. Haynes becomes the third defensive end to commit to the Tar Heels in the 2013 class joining four star prospects Nazair Jones and Dejuan Drennnon. Haynes out of Jacksonville, FL is a nice athlete with the potential for huge upside. KIH
Eric Ebron Eager to Meet Expectations
Earlier this summer, Larry Fedora said the only position on the team he believes has adequate depth is tight end. Despite no upperclassmen on the roster at that position, expectations are high for the tight ends and sophomore Eric Ebron in particular. IC
Coroner: Signs point to ‘natural death’ for Urso
An autopsy performed on Columbus Crew midfielder Kirk Urso on Monday did not reveal any trauma and the coroner says signs point to “an apparent natural death” pending results from toxicology tests. The 22-year-old Urso was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. Sunday at Grant Medical Center after collapsing at a downtown Columbus bar and restaurant. Miami Herald
911 Calls Released Relating to Death of Kirk Urso
Fire officials released a 911 call on Monday that was placed just prior to Columbus Crew midfielder Kirk Urso’s death. A police dispatcher requested a medic to a Park Street bar early Sunday morning. The caller requested a medic for a person described as “very drunk.” According to a dispatcher, the person fell down and was unconscious. WBNS
Can Joel James be James Michael McAdoo’s front court counterpart?
James Michael McAdoo is the name that everyone is going to be talking about for North Carolina heading into the 2012-2013 season, but the Tar Heels will struggle if he is the only serviceable big man on the roster. Quinton Coples easing into role with Jets
The Jets expect Quinton Coples to play a major role this year. He’ll be in for 50 to 80 percent of the plays per game, depending on the kind of offense they are facing — and will likely be second in the number of snaps he takes. Tyquan Lewis the next big prospect at Tarboro
At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, senior defensive end Tyquan Lewis is the next highly touted prospect to come out of Tarboro. Ohio State is one of the schools that is recruiting Lewis the heaviest, and the Buckeyes are surely pleased that they are in his top five. Joining Ohio State on Lewis’ list is LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Lewis hopes to make a verbal commitment by September. High School OT
