UNC Basketball: Games I’d Like to See on the Schedule

With the summer here, that means that the Men’s Basketball schedules are nearing their release. And with the news kind of quiet in the off season, I thought of this idea where I’d share a few games I would love to see on the schedule. So, note this is my opinion, and it’s all just…I guess you could say fantasy.

#1 – North Carolina vs. UCLA

This is the first season at UCLA that Larry Drew II will be eligible to play. He left North Carolina for reasons he won’t admit, but we all know. He was benched as a starter to be a backup to Kendall Marshall. He left in disgrace with many fans and fans want to see him..basically not succeed in UCLA after the way he walked out of Chapel Hill. On top of that, the Wear Twins also are playing for UCLA, and we all know they are the reason for the collapse of the 2009-10 team. UCLA also comes into the season with the top recruiting class our ranking Kentucky for the first time in many seasons.

#2 North Carolina vs. Kentucky

Sadly I know this one won’t happen because an agreement between UNC and Kentucky was not made in time. These are BIG games each and every season. Since Calipari’s arrival in Lexington, Kentucky has the edge over Carolina. I don’t know for sure, but I want to say Kentucky has the one game edge. I know its close. With how Calipari recruits and dominates and gets the constant bragging from the media, I want the chance to prove everyone wrong by marching onto the court and putting on a show, beating the Wildcats, proving that the Tar Heels are the better team. Last year I think, Anthony Davis got away with a lucky block, that also managed to distract the referees from calling a travel, but we won’t bring back the nightmares.

#3 North Carolina vs. Syracuse

I know it will eventually happen with Syracuse’s nearing arrival into the ACC, but I want a preview. Jim Boeheim is one of the most successful college basketball coaches in history and always has a deep team that is bound to be a threat in the NCAA Tournament. I think this makes for a great match up with both teams losing key players and rebuilding on their new recruits coming in.

Now, this final one I’d like to mention is a huge idea out there in left field. What if Tyler Zeller was only a senior this year. Then we’d get to see Carolina/Zeller play Indiana/Zeller. That would be a big game, and one I’d love to see. Sadly, it won’t happen, but maybe in the NBA. I just don’t think it would be as exciting as it would be in college basketball. Especially with Indiana coming in as the #1 team and Carolina coming in with one of the nation’s top recruiting classes.

In the comments, let us know what are some match-ups you’d like to see with Carolina this year!
