Carolina at Kentucky…As Good As It Gets, Well Almost

Aside from the final result that was as good of a college basketball game one could hope to see. Personally I don’t see how you don’t get the ball to Barnes for that last shot. But Z had played pretty well, not like he did last year, but he was a viable option for the situation. And who expects Henson of all people to get a chippy follow blocked? And, yeah the Heels went brain dead by not fouling, but hey it is still early December after all. If that occurred in a final it would be considered one of the great finishes off all time and the second guessing afterwards would have been unbearable. As it is that’s one hell of a way to kick off the Eye’s coverage of college hoops. Kentucky and Carolina played at a level of intensity that was every bit as intense and heated as either would play against their other rivals. I would dare say intense as a tournament game would be. It also left me wanting more. And it also got me thinking, why should we be the ones to have all the fun?
Attention John Swofford, if the inclusion of Pitt and the ‘Cuse to the ACC cause is an admittance that it is time to get back to what this conference does best, play hoops. And if the eventual goal is 16 teams then I have an audacious idea, let’s steal UK. And while we are at it go ahead and get their buddies from Louisville, if for nothing else an excuse to go up there the first weekend of May each year.
Now, now hear me out.
UK, this is a no brainer for you man. The mother ship of college football doesn’t give the proverbial happy rats ass about hoops. It’s the lounge act. Start talking college hoops with Finebaum and the man’s eyes will glaze over so quickly you will think he just went out back with Tammy for a bong hit. It’s football country. Most of the schools are quite distant and consider you to be an automatic win. Kentucky you know that you guys suck at football, what are going to give me man? Bear Bryant back when he was still Paul? UK is the only place where the fans end up storming the field for a football game that they actually lost. You would fit in the ACC so well in that respect. And you might actually win something in our little rag tag association of college football has been’s and never were’s. Or you can stay there and get your head kicked in for the pleasure of having a half committed conference schedule to build up your win count and self esteem.
As for you Louisville, ok first off sorry about the Derby crack, but hey there are enough Mint Julips to go around. But you would do well to just ante up the fee to bail on the Big Least and come on over. You know a 2nd meeting each year with those bastards is something you crave and the football move would be a lateral one at worst. So don’t give excuses, just come on down.
Now there is something our old cousins from the SEC would have to say about all of these proposed shenanigans. And let’s be honest, messing with the Kings of college football is akin to running afoul of the mob. So here’s our peace offering to Don’s Saban, Miles, Spurrier, and the rest of the remaining 12 families. Let us divide and conquer together, the Big Least is a huge pain in the ass and they really need to be dealt with anyway. Now this will require some willingness to be flexible on your part, but we can work this out and when it is done the east will completely be ours. You go get the couch burners in Morganton. That gets you back to fourteen. We will eat up UCONN and Rutgers. And we give you FSU and Miami, now I know you don’t like the idea of having the headache of Luther Campbell’s favorite team and the overall baggage that entails. But dude won’t it be worth it to see Finebaum decked out like Don Johnson bumping around South Beach? In the meantime the Big Least is dead on all grounds, who would they have left? Cincinnati? Boise? Wassamatta U? Just roll that body up in a carpet and dump it off the bridge baby.
All of this just so I can get a chance to see games like this afternoon.
