Class of 2021 UNC Football four-star commit Drake Maye finished in the Top 11 at the Elite 11 camp earlier this week in Nashville

UNC Football commit Drake Maye still has a full senior year before he arrives on campus in Chapel Hill next year but already the excitement level is high for the prospect.

With Sam Howell entering his sophomore season, fresh off a fantastic freshman campaign with the Tar Heels and the future of the position is in good hands. Howell has two more seasons of eligibility left and from there, he will turn it over to either Jacolby Criswell or Maye in 2022.

As Maye prepares for his senior season, he’s doing it in a very unique time with the COVID-19 pandemic going on. While workouts have been limited, Maye has been able to flash his skills in the form of the Elite 11 camp last week in Nashville.

Over 20 of the top quarterback prospects in the country were in the Music City to showcase their skills, including May, as the three-day event wrapped up on Wednesday.

Maye got off to a slow start on Day 1 and fell behind a bit. But it didn’t take him long to recover and a big Day 2 and solid Day 3 put him in the conversation for a Top 11 spot. When it was all said and done, Maye was named to the Top 11 for the event proving he is one of the best signal callers in the 2021 class:

The prospects are graded by 50% of their film from their junior season plus 50% from camp evaluations. There haven’t been many camps outside of the Elite 11 this Summer, so that plays a big role in it.

Maye entered this camp with the chance to bump his stock and potentially earn that fifth star down the road. But did he do enough? That remains to be seen.
