Recruiting analyst believes that Keion Brooks will decide between two schools

At one point, a Keion Brooks commitment to Indiana seemed like it was just a matter of time. And when it comes to familiarity and proximity, it makes complete sense.

Not only is Indiana University the flagship school of Brooks’ home state, but it’s also where his friend and fellow 5-star recruit Trayce Jackson-Davis is committed to play. Hoosiers head coach Archie Miller has done an excellent job recruiting Brooks, too, and does really well keeping in-state talent at home.

But according to at least one recruiting expert, the seemingly consensus assumption that Brooks-to-Indiana is a done deal, might be slightly oversimplifying the situation.

Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans has closely followed the Brooks recruitment throughout, and believes that there is another school making a strong push that could challenge Miller and the Hoosiers for the talented wing.

"“. . . their [Tar Heels] best chances lay with Keion Brooks and Matthew Hurt,” Evans said. “Brooks is much closer to his decision, and it looks to be a battle between Indiana and UNC for him. Hurt is trending toward a spring decision, and UNC is among the top suitors for him, along with Duke, Kansas and Kentucky.”"

The La Porte, Indiana native is known best for his mid-range shooting, proclivity for slashing and scoring in the paint, and terrific play-making abilities. He’s got great size for his position, and takes advantage of it on the defensive glass. Brooks also possesses a tremendous amount of versatility, and a high basketball I.Q.

Brooks, a 6-foot-8, 185-pound small forward, is ranked 22nd overall in the 247Sports Composite. He’s a top-5 player at his position, and the No. 3 prospect from the state of Indiana. Despite Evans’ belief that Brooks’ recruitment is just a two-horse race, the 5-star wing still has a list of finalists that includes Kentucky, Michigan State, Purdue and UCLA.
