Mitch Trubisky was compared to two NFL quarterbacks with similar skill sets. Read what the scouts had to say

Former University of North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Mitch Trubisky will be waiting for his name to be called at April’s NFL draft.

Trubisky likely wont have to wait long as the quarterback is projected to go early in the first round.

On Tuesday, Trubisky had a nice showing at UNC’s Pro Day in Chapel Hill going through drills in front of 75 NFL scouts.

Following the drills, one NFL analyst gave Trubisky a pretty special comparison.

An NFL scout at the Pro Day mentioned to ESPN’s Todd McShay that Trubisky reminded him of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers:

"One interesting tidbit from QB Mitchell Trubisky’s pro day: An NFL personnel director told me that Trubisky’s skill set reminds him of Aaron Rodgers entering the league. The similarities: The quick release, the arm talent and the ability stay in balance while moving his feet. A lot of time and motivation went into Rodgers’ NFL development, of course, but you see the raw tools with Trubisky."

Rodgers wasn’t expected to be a top 10 pick in the 2005 NFL Draft as he fell all the way to No. 24 in the first round.

Six years later, Rodgers helped lead the Packers to a Super Bowl in 2011.

The comparison is a good one for Trubisky because if his career is anything like Rodgers’, he could have multiple MVP awards and a Super Bowl. Remember though, the comparison isn’t stating that he will be Rodgers but rather he has a similar skill set.

Rodgers also sat behind Brett Favre for a few years before getting his chance. It’s very likely that Trubisky will be in a similar situation.

It’s not the only comparison Trubisky received.

Before his Pro Day, he drew a comparison to former Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Rich Gannon:

Gannon also played in a Super Bowl and was the NFL MVP in 2002.

Like Rodgers, the comparison is the skill set for Trubisky and Gannon. The former Tar Heels quarterback showed off his skills on Tuesday and overall had a good day.

With a handful of teams having a need for a quarterback, Trubisky will likely land in the top 15 come April’s NFL Draft.
