Updates from UNC Football players at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis

Former University of North Carolina Tar Heels running back T.J. Logan is out to prove his worth at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.

Logan split time with Elijah Hood the last three seasons in the backfield but he showed off his explosiveness every chance he good.

Aside from being a big part of the run game, Logan was a big part in UNC’s kickoff return team including a long touchdown return against Georgia in Week 1.

With running backs participating in drills on Friday, Logan gave the NFL world a look at his speed.

In his first 40-yard-dash attempt, Logan ran a 4.34. That was the fastest among running backs on Friday:

Logan followed that up with a 4.44 mark on his second attempt.

The Greensboro product is looking to up his stock and will go through the full running back drills on Friday. Former teammate Elijah Hood will participate in drills but did not run the 40-yard-dash.

Other UNC notes from the NFL Combine

Ryan Switzer to meet with Denver Broncos

Wide receiver Ryan Switzer might just be one of the more underrated players at his position entering the combine but he will be an intriguing pick.

Switzer set the UNC single season receptions record in 2016 and could be a great fit in the slot for some NFL teams.

At least one team seems to be real high on Switzer.

According to beat reporter Cameron Wolfe, the Denver Broncos are real high on Switzer who could fill a big need.

Switzer will meet with the Broncos (And likely a handful of other teams) while at the combine, but that could be a good fit for the receiver.

Elijah Hood a fit in Carolina?

Hood wont participate in any on-field drills on Friday, for reason still unknown. He did put up 18 reps on the bench press, however.

With Hood leaving UNC early, he’s looking for his next home in the NFL. That destination might be a little closer than you think.

The Carolina Panthers need an upgrade at the running back position and it could come from Hood, a Charlotte native.

Hood spoke to Panthers beat reporter Mike Craft at the draft and Hood was open to returning to Charlotte to play for the team he grew up with. He even gave himself a nickname via Cat Crave:

"“I wouldn’t have left the state of North Carolina my whole career … I guess I would just be the ‘Carolina Kid.’”"

The Panthers likely wont spend the 8th overall pick on Hood but he’s an option when they pick at No. 40 and No. 72.

Trubisky speaks…

Mitch Trubisky’s name is expected to be called in the first round come April 27 but when is the real question.

On Friday, a day after he was measured, Trubisky met the with media as he gets ready to show his skills in Saturday’s drills.

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson loved that Trubisky measured in at over 6-foot-2 on Tuesday. The Ohio native could hear his name selected No. 1 overall and the latest report from Browns beat write Mary Kay Cabot suggests the team is reportedly leaning that way:

"The Browns are also seriously considering North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky with the No. 1 pick, and are interested in Deshaun Watson.Coach Hue Jackson stressed Thursday that the club is doing everything possible to find a winning quarterback."

Trubisky talked on Friday and said he had meetings with the Chicago Bears, New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns.
