It wasn’t the result the North Carolina Tar Heels were looking for on Saturday, but the season isn’t over.

The Tar Heels fell to Georgia 33-24 in the Chick-fil-A kickoff, losing the season opener to a SEC team for the third time in the past four seasons. UNC led by 10 in the second half, but were outscored 19-0 to close out the game.

There’s good news however.

The Tar Heels will have the chance to redeem themselves in just a week as they travel to Champaign to take on Illinois. But before we go ahead and move onto next week, let’s take a look at some photos from Saturday’s game:

The loss is now the Tar Heels third-straight, dating back to last season including the ACC Championship and Russell Athletic Bowl. The good news is that the season is still early and this wasn’t a conference game.

If UNC can rebound next week with a big win over Illinois, this one won’t hurt as much.

We won’t know until later in the year, especially if the Tar Heels appear in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Much like last year’s loss to South Carolina hurt them later on in the rankings.

Okay,  now you have permission to move onto the next game. Check back with Keeping It Heel all week for coverage on the Tar Heels game in Champaign against Illinois on September 10.
