The North Carolina basketball team has been blessed with a long line of great shooting guards.  The Heels have had seven shooting guards taken in the NBA draft in the last fifteen years alone.  So ranking the top five in the history of the program is a pretty difficult undertaking.

But, I am going to try.  First, let me lay out some rules for this article.

  • Only college careers matter. Some players who had great careers at Carolina went on to have stellar pro careers.  Some were not so fortunate.  But, for this article, I am only going to be looking at what the players did in college.

And

  • Winning championships matter. If, hypothetically, player A and player B had identical stats, but only player A won a national title at Carolina, player A has the edge.  I know that championships depend on a lot of things outside of a players’ control, but the best players find ways to win.

So, without further ado: my five best shooting guards to ever don a Carolina uniform.  Let me know if you agree with my list in the comments below.
