What’s up Tar Heel nation!?  Another week of UNC sports means another week of recruiting and I am here to give you all a scoop of what is going on!  It was a slower week in the recruiting world but a lot of big things happened!  Headlining the week is the most recent news of 2014 small forward Justin Jackson scheduling his first official to UNC on March 3rd.  Other stories in the week had to do with a couple big football prospects in 2013 including defensive end Carl Lawson and wide out Marquez North.   Other basketball news includes Isaiah Hicks continuing to show out, more of a break down on Andrew Wiggins recruit and Justise Winslow including UNC in his final 10.

In basketball Justin Jackson just scheduled his official visit to see UNC take on the Florida State Seminoles March 3rd.  If you don’t know Jackson by now just know he is a small forward with versatile size and floater like Rajon Rondo.  Jackson is of the elite and under ranked in my opinion.  Jackson has played against the elite including three top 10 ESPN prospects and outscored two (with the exception of Wiggins) with high double digit points every time.  After Joel Berry committed last week, Jackson tweeted a congratulations with Berry responding with “Thanks bro! it’s your turn!”  It is possible that Jackson could be the next to pull the trigger with his past connection with the university but he may still want to check out the possibilities on his list.  Jackson was also high on Arizona.  With that all said and done I believe Justin Jackson will be the second commit in 2014.

Another fellow Houston native Justise Winslow is a small forward and friends with Jackson included UNC in his final 1o.  Winslow is a little more explosive than Jackson in the position and both are great players.  Both have played with a package deal scenario but I don’t see it happening.  They are the same position and I see one or the other coming.  2013 commit Isaiah Hicks put up a triple double the other night in Greensboro N.C.  Hicks is continuing to be a dominate versatile force and hopefully he can be the third Tar Heel to ever get a triple double in blue (Jason Capel and Brendan Haywood first two).  Last Andrew Wiggins recruiting is a mystery to all.  Analysts are speculating that Kentucky and Florida State are the leaders but he asked to be recruited by other schools which could seem he wanted to see more.  Also word on the street was his visit to Florida State wasn’t perfect.  UNC has made a huge impact as of recent and even point guard commit Nate Britt has been recruiting him.  Look for him to possibly join Justin Jackson on March 3rd while the Heels play against his parents Alma Mater the Florida State Seminoles.

Concluding basketball, football national signing day is next week and the Heels are anxiously awaiting to sign new recruits.  The main recruit in particular is Marquez North.  Marquez North is an Army All-American wide out who has impressive size and break away speed.  It is between Tennessee and UNC but as of recent the message boards are insinuating that he will be wearing Carolina blue next year.  Marquez would be an instant impact next year and I see him starting alongside wide reciever Quinshad Davis while taking Erik (Mookie) Highsmith’s spot.  Another big recruit Carl Lawson just recently eliminated UNC and is down to Auburn, Clemson and Tennessee.  While Lawson would have been a huge get two big underrated defensive ends are coming in in Dajuan Drennon and Nazair Jones!  Stay tuned for more recruiting news soon!
