Andrew Wiggins still planning spring visit to UNC, no date set
Andrew Wiggins took an official visit to Florida State in December and is still planning officials to Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas sometime this spring. North Carolina coach Roy Williams met recently with Wiggins but no official date was set for a visit. Internet speculation has run wild that Florida State — the alma mater of Wiggins’ parents, Mitchell Wiggins and Marita Payne-Wiggins — now leads for Wiggins. (Zags Blog)

ACC Power Rankings: Questions linger after ACC’s opening weekend
5. North Carolina (10-4, 0-1) Yes, North Carolina has problems. Sunday night’s loss to Virginia ended the giddy hangover of the UNLV win and handed the Tar Heels a heavy dose of reality. But in this season’s soft ACC, even a struggling North Carolina team can easily find its way back into the top four. (Fayetteville Observer)

The good, the bad and the offbeat from the week that was in ACC basketball
UNC showed its collective inexperience and a leadership void Sunday by allowing Virginia to score 10 of the game’s final 12 points to pull away for a 61-52 victory. Although the tentative ending finally did the Tar Heels in, the real story was offensive efficiency throughout the game. UNC allowed UVa to make 57 percent of its 3-pointers while shooting only 37 percent overall itself. (Wilmington Star News)

Monday Roy Williams Quotes
“Not a good night for us at all at Virginia last night. Tony [Bennett’s] club really did some things that took away what we wanted to do, and we didn’t do a good job on either end of the court, but give them credit for what they’re– it was a rude awakening for us to have that kind of loss where every play down the stretch they made and we didn’t make.” (Inside Carolina)

UNC Basketball: Need To Step Up Right Now
These posts are getting old. I’m getting tired of turning the TV on an watching my beloved Tar Heels lose to teams they have no business losing to. I’m getting tired of having any sort of optimism around this team come and go. I’m tired of telling myself “it’s because they’re young”. (KIH)

Bernard is the second Tar Heel to earn CFPA honors, following 2011 recipient Zach Brown (LB). Bernard, who recently elected to forego his final two years of college eligibility and enter the 2013 NFL Draft, finished the season with two punt return touchdowns. (GoHeels.com)

Roy Williams’ message: We don’t intend to panic
The ACC schedule has expanded from 16 games to 18, and North Carolina coach Roy Williams said an 0-1 start isn’t reason to panic. The Tar Heels opened league play with a 61-52 loss at Virginia on Sunday night, and they return to action Thursday against visiting Miami. “It is a marathon that you’re facing, and you can’t panic,” Williams said Monday. Here Comes John Henson
Over the course of the last three games, Henson has averaged 12.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per night while playing only about 25 minutes per game. He has also contributed five blocks and four steals over that three-game stretch, and it’s starting to get to the point where head coach Scott Skiles has no choice but keep him on the floor. UNC Basketball: Roster Not Constructed To Do What Roy Wants
Roy Williams strategy is no secret he likes his North Carolina teams to get out and run, run some more and then run some more. (KIH)
