North Carolina heads to the Round of 32 with a matchup agianst Michigan State on Saturday in Charlotte.

RJ Davis helped set the table for a balanced Tar Heels effort and will be tasked with navigating the Michigan State defense. While the Spartans are a top 10 defensive unit, Davis has shown he can handle some of the best in the country. With that in mind, I'm going to target a speficic player prop given this matchup against teh Spartans defense.

Meanwhile, and in line with this thinking, I'm focused on Cormac Ryan's floor spacing to set the tone with thisa player prop.

Best College Basketball Player Props for Michigan State vs. North Carolina

  • RJ Davis OVER 3.5 Assists
  • Cormac Ryan 3+ Three’s Made

RJ Davis OVER 3.5 Assists

The ball will be in Davis’ hands often in this one, as expected. He has an assist rate of 20% on the year and is averaging 3.5 on the year. So, why do I like the over? Against an elite Michigan State defense, I believe the likes of AJ Hoggard and Tyson Walker will be able to stick to Davis, but it’s a bit more vulnerable off the ball.

The Spartans are an elite isolation defense, top 10 in points allowed per possession on the year, but do get stretched out of the paint, 276th in spacing grade according to ShotQuality.

I think this game will fall on the likes of Ryan, Harrison Ingram and Armando Bacot as a roll man, and Davis needs to approach the game as more of a floor general, leading to him going over this mark.

Cormac Ryan 3+ Three’s Made

Ryan took six three’s against Wagner, right in line with his season long average. With Davis working as more of a facilitator, I expect Ryan to continue getting his shots up, a 34% three-point shooter. Integral to the Tar Heels offense, Ryan has played 30 minutes per game this season.

You can beat this Michigan State team from distance, the team 310th in opponent three-point rate and I expect Ryan to get plenty of looks on Saturday.
