UNC Football: Tar Heels land DB in 2020 recruiting class

The UNC Football program adds another recruit, fresh off a very big recruiting weekend on campus in Chapel Hill

You can add another commitment to the North Carolina Tar Heels 2020 recruiting class.

After picking up verbals from a four-star safety and a three-star athlete on Saturday, the Tar Heels received another verbal on Monday night from a three-star defensive end. Not less than 24 hours later, they were once again adding to their 2020 class.

Three-star defensive back Jayden Chalmers offered his verbal commitment to the program on Tuesday night, becoming the 18th player and the third cornerback to commit to the class for 2020.

Here is what he posted on Twitter Tuesday night:

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound defensive back out of Sanford, North Carolina is ranked as the No. 1,646th player overall in the 2020 class and No. 149 at his position. He becomes the eighth player from the state of North Carolina to join the Tar Heels in the 2020 class.

Chalmers had a total of 12 offers in his recruitment but decided that landing one from UNC was enough and he couldn’t wait any longer to commit. Per Inside Carolina’s Don Callahan, Chalmers received an offer on Monday night from the Tar Heels just a few days after participating in UNC’s Showtime Camp over the weekend.

After picking up that offer, Chalmers closed out his recruitment picking the Tar Heels over East Carolina, Air Force, Army, Tulane and Appalachian State among others.
