NCAA Tournament: UNC currently a top 16 seed in early bracket reveal

UNC was listed as one of the top 16 teams in the NCAA Tournament early bracket reveal

The NCAA brought back the early bracket reveal show airing on CBS Sunday just ahead of the Michigan-Wisconsin game.

It gives fans and teams a look at where the top 16 teams in the field currently stand if Selection Sunday was today.

For the North Carolina Tar Heels, they were included as one of the top 16 teams listed and their region might surprise you.

UNC was listed as the fourth three-seed in the tournament, slated in the West Region with No. 1 Purdue, No. 2 Kansas and No. 4 Arizona. The Tar Heels are the 12th overall seed in the current bracket.

Take a look at the full 16 below:

For the Tar Heels, being a three seed is a good sign. This team was almost in desperation mode just a few weeks ago but has turned it around with three-straight wins over the past week.

UNC does have some big wins this season and is currently 4-3 against the current Top 16 with wins over Duke, Clemson, Ohio State and Tennessee.

They have losses to Clemson, Virginia and Michigan state.

The Tar Heels will certainly have some chances to improve their seed as the season goes on.

With five Atlantic Coast Conference games left, the Tar Heels still play tough road games at Louisville, Syracuse and Duke while hosting Notre Dame and Miami.

Then there is the ACC Tournament which a deep run would help UNC’s seed.

Of course, there’s still plenty of time until Selection Sunday so a lot of changes could happen.

The full bracket will be revealed on Sunday, March 11 during a special two-hour show on CBS beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
