Class of 2018 recruit E.J. Montgomery is set to take a visit to UNC
The North Carolina Tar Heels received some good news on a very important recruit in the 2018 class.
After visiting 2018 target E.J. Montgomery last week and making him an offer, the recruit has now decided on a visit date to Chapel Hill.
Montgomery’s father confirmed to Inside Carolina that his son, E.J., will take a visit to Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels game against Notre Dame on Feb. 12. The Tar Heels will be in a stretch where they will play three games in five days.
Head coach Roy Williams visited Montgomery last Saturday and then again last week before offering him a scholarship on Wednesday.
Williams is going after Montgomery hard after the Tar Heels lost out on Zion Williamson to Duke.
The forward is the only remaining target left on UNC’s recruiting board and would give them an instant impact post player for next year.
The problem is that both Duke and Kentucky are also involved in Montgomery’s recruitment and the Blue Devils are considered the early favorites to land him.
Montgomery will also take a visit to Duke on Feb. 14 to watch the Blue Devils’ game against Virginia Tech.
Both visits to UNC and Duke will be unofficial visits.
The 6-foot-10 forward is currently a top 10 recruit in the 2018 class and would certainly boost UNC’s overall class that features Nassir Little, Coby White and Rechon Black.
Losing him to Duke would give the Blue Devils another Top 10 player to their already stacked No. 1 overall class.
The news that Montgomery is set for a visit is good as the Tar Heels need to start picking up momentum in his recruitment.
