Goodbye Time

Again Pitt fans, don’t worry, this is not a statement about your coach. It is instead a statement about your quarterback.

If there wasn’t a controversy before there should be now. Actually, there still shouldn’t be because one quarterback clearly is superior to the other.

After three games of inept football, it is clear that Max Browne is not the answer at Pitt this season. If it wasn’t clear after the blowout loss to Penn State, it sure was after getting outscored 35-0 in the first quarter against Oklahoma State.

For the season Max Browne is 43-of-66 for 338 yards, one touchdown, and two picks. He also has been sacked seven times already. Just for comparison, Mason Rudolph was 23-of-32 for 497 yards and five touchdowns in three quarters against Pitt.

Browne needed to go and if there was any question about this, look no further than the play of sophomore Ben Dinucci.

Once Dinucci came in the game Pitt’s offense actually moved. On his first drive, he connected with Quadree Henderson for a 74-yard play. Pitt had 63 total yards of offense before that. That drive ended with Pitt’s first score and a pumped up crowd.

Sure the game was out of reach at that point, but he clearly brought an electricity to the game that Browne just doesn’t have. He followed that drive up two drives later with another touchdown. In fact, if not for a late missed field goal, Dinucci would’ve matched OSU point for point.

In other words, if anybody but Ben Dinucci starts for Pitt’s game next week against Georgia Tech, then maybe it should be goodbye time for Coach Pat Narduzzi.
