UNC seniors gave speeches following a big win over Duke in Chapel Hill
Saturday night was one to remember in Chapel Hill for the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team.
Before the game even started the Tar Heels had clinched the ACC regular season title outright with Louisville’s win over Notre Dame. But it didn’t take away from the fact that UNC was playing their hated rival from down the road.
The Tar Heels came out and got a big win over Duke to improve that resume for a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
They even brought out Michael Jordan at halftime to officially announce the football team’s new partnership with Jordan Brand.
It was a pretty epic night.
Following the game, the seniors on the team soaked all the emotions up as it was their final game in the Dean E. Smith Center.
Like they usually do, the players addressed the crowd as they thanked them for their support over the years.
This year’s senior class was a special one as it felt like it was just yesterday that Isaiah Hicks, Nate Britt and Kennedy Meeks were recruited by the Tar Heels.
All have achieved a lot over the years but for Britt and Hicks, they accomplished something pretty cool:
Stilman White also played in his final game in the Dean Dome, making his first start since the 2012 Elite 8 game against Kansas. Since then, White has taken some time off for a mission trip before returning to the program.
For this year’s seniors, the job isn’t finished just yet.
They want to go out with a bang and cut the nets down come April. It won’t be an easy task but the Tar Heels are considered one of the favorites as we head into the NCAA Tournament.
