UNC is headed to the Russell Athletic Bowl to play against Baylor.

This isn’t the New Year’s Six bowl that a lot of fans wanted, but this is gonna be a really fun matchup. Baylor has one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, as do the Tar Heels, so expect a lot of points and an fast paced game.

One of the key storylines to watch here is who Baylor’s quarterback will be for the bowl game. Last week, Baylor started a converted wide receiver at QB and didn’t have anywhere need the usual level of offensive firepower that the team usually displays. Baylor’s QB room now has plenty of extra time to rest up and get healthy. SB Nation’s Baylor Bears blog gave KIH some insight on what the situation will be with Baylor’s QBs earlier this afternoon…

Another interesting storyline to watch will be how motivated the Tar Heels are for this game. In last year’s bowl game, the Heels put up a really poor effort against a not very good Rutgers team. This year, considering that the Russell Athletic Bowl is bigger and the opponent, Baylor, is more prestigious, will the Tar Heels come out and play harder? Only time will tell.

Despite the loss in the ACC Championship game, UNC’s season is still far from over. The Tar Heels have a chance to send their seniors out with a win and to earn a big win in a bowl game as Larry Fedora continues to build the Tar Heel Football program.
