As the 2012 NCAA Basketball Tournament has progressed, this years version of March Madness has proven to be one of the most entertaining in recent history. In just the first two rounds, we have seen more proverbial “underdogs” overcome seemingly overwhelming odds, in their successful pursuit of victory. Just in the last few days we have seen two historic upsets when 2 Missouri fell to the likes of 15 Norfolk State, and 2 Duke was upset in a matchup with Lehigh University (In what was easily the most satisfying upset that Tar Heel fans have seen in a considerable amount of time). Additionally, we have also seen several other upsets by teams like 11 VCU, 11 NC State, 10 Xavier, 9 St. Louis, 13 Ohio, and 12 USF. With all of these underdogs defeating their higher seeded opponents, the Tar Heels must be wary of falling victim to a similar fate.

After the Tar Heels first meeting with the Duke Blue Devils, I wrote an article comparing the all-time rosters of each team. Now that the team’s final regular season game has come to an end, there is another matchup that can be made. This game features the best current players that each school has to offer. Much like the previous article, this matchup comes in the form of a traditional five man lineup with two additional bench spots. The criteria for this hypothetical matchup are as follows: Every player on each respective team must be an active talent and the players on each roster are to be credited for their current skill level (and not their former greatness). All statistics are also from each player during the 2011-2012 NBA season.
