The 2020 UNC Football schedule has officially been released as Mack Brown and his team begin the long countdown to Week 1

With how the 2019 season ended under Mack Brown, North Carolina Tar Heels fans enter the 2020 offseason with a lot of excitement.

There are just over 230 days left until kickoff for a team that is coming off a 7-6 record and their first bowl win since the 2013 season. We already know who the Tar Heels will be kicking off their season against but now we finally know the full schedule for what we hope is an exciting 2020 season.

On Wednesday morning, the Atlantic Coast Conference released their football schedule for the upcoming 2020 season giving us a look at the matchups upcoming. That included the Tar Heels, who will open up their season with a game at UCF, then a neutral site affair vs. Auburn in Week 2 and finally a home game vs. James Madison before kickoff of their ACC schedule vs. Georgia Tech.

Take a look at the Tar Heels’ 2020 schedule below:

  • at UCF 9/4 (Friday)
  • vs. Auburn in Georgia 9/12 (Chick-Fil-A Kickoff)
  • vs. James Madison 9/19
  • vs. Georgia Tech 9/26
  • AT Virginia 10/3
  • vs. Virginia Tech 10/10
  • AT Duke 10/17
  • AT Miami 10/24
  • vs UCONN 11/7
  • vs. Pitt 11/14
  • AT Boston College 11/21
  • vs. N.C. State 11/27 (Friday)

As you see above, the Tar Heels will play four non-conference games with three coming in the first three weeks of the season. The final non-conference game will be at home vs. UCONN to open up the November part of the schedule.

They will also play two Friday games, Week 1 at UCF and then close out their season at home vs. N.C. State on the Friday after Thanksgiving. That means no Thursday night football this year for the Tar Heels.

Their longest home stand will be two games, taking on James Madison and Georgia Tech in back-to-back weeks and then again taking on UCONN and Pitt at home. This season UNC’s longest road trip will be two games when they go down the road to Duke on October 17th and then Miami on October 24th. The Week 2 matchup against Auburn will be a neutral site game.
