UNC Basketball four-star forward target Jalen Wilson will schedule a visit to North Carolina as he’s re-opened his recruitment

Many thought that Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels were done with their 2019 recruiting class after adding guards Cole Anthony and Anthony Harris within hours of eachother on the same day. UNC would also add two graduate transfers to their 2019-20 roster in Christian Keeling and Justin Pierce.

Adding those four meant that the Tar Heels had wrapped up the 2019 class as well as their roster for the upcoming season. But then Thursday’s big news that four-star forward Jalen Wilson was decommitting from Michigan and re-opening his recruitment and now things may change.

The Tar Heels are one of the programs showing early interest in Wilson as he re-opens his recruitment and they should be considered serious threats to land him.

On Sunday, some significant news regarding Wilson’s new recruitment was revealed and it sounds good for the Tar Heels. National recruiting analyst Evan Daniels of 247 Sports reported on Sunday that Wilson has a visit scheduled already for Kansas and he’s planning more, including one to UNC.

Here is what Daniels wrote regarding UNC and the recruitment of Wilson:

"Wilson, a standout at Dallas (Tex.) Guyer, will visit Kansas from May 30 to June 1. Then Wilson will look to visit an ACC power.“We [are] setting one for UNC just don’t have date yet,” Wilson said."

With Wilson taking his visit to Kansas at the end of May, it’s very likely he will be on UNC’s campus the following weekend or even during the week. We should know more about the situation, including the official visit date soon.

In addition to visiting Kansas and eventually UNC, both Florida and Oklahoma State have gotten involved with Wilson according to Daniels.

As it stands now, this race appears to be between the Blue Blood programs UNC and Kansas. They are the only two programs mentioned getting visits right now and that could stay that way, leading to an eventual decision.

UNC does have an open scholarship and Wilson could come in and compete for a starting job right away. Kansas is also recruiting R.J. Hampton, who is very close with Wilson, leading some to believe that they will be a package deal.
