The UNC Basketball program appears to be trending for a four-star point guard in the 2019 recruiting class coming off his official visit

The University of North Carolina hosted some very important visitors in terms of recruits for both the basketball and football program in what was an eventful weekend the past three days.

With the annual Late Night With Roy event helping unofficially tipoff the 2018-19 season, the Tar Heels basketball program five recruits. Among them was class of 2019 point guard Boogie Ellis who recently became a big priority for Roy Williams and his staff.

The San Diego native is ranked No. 35 overall in his class and No. 7 at his position, as he’s elevated his game over the Spring and Summer AAU circuit. Ellis caught the eye of Williams during that Summer circuit and earned an offer from the program on September 2nd.

With Josh Green going to Arizona, Ellis now becomes a very important recruit for Williams to land in this class.

Everything appeared to go well for Ellis on his visit judging by this article from Inside Carolina’s Sherrell McMillan who wrote a VIP story on the site. And following Ellis’ visit, things appear to be trending UNC’s way.

Tar Heel Illustrated’s Clint Jackson also had this on Ellis’ visit:

Looking at the 247 Sports Crystal Ball, the last three predictions for Ellis have gone to the Tar Heels highlighted by 247 Sports recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer.

Meyer made his pick on Monday morning, just days after Ellis visited UNC. The other two came from The Devil’s Den writers Andrew Slater and Chad Lykins. Those picks are interesting coming from Duke writers seeing that Ellis is still scheduled to visit the Blue Devils.

As of now, UNC does lead the Crystal Ball predictor at 67 percent compared to USC’s 33 percent.

It’s unknown when Ellis will make his decision but as of now I wouldn’t expect one before the early signing period in November. With a visit scheduled to Duke in two weeks, things could change but as of now it appears that UNC is the team to beat.
