A five-star point guard in the 2020 recruiting class is beginning to move forward with his recruitment and hopes to visit the UNC Basketball program

Roy Williams is in the middle of a few big recruiting battles for the 2019 recruiting class as we get set to begin the 2018-19 season in just over a month from now.

The head coach and his staff have their eyes set on a few top targets in 2019, hoping to add to the class that already has center Armando Bacot and point guard Jeremiah Francis verbally committed. Landing a big 2019 class would be ideal for Williams as he will look to replenish the roster with Cam Johnson, Luke Maye and Kenny Williams set to graduate following this year.

Freshman Nassir Little is also expected to play just one year at UNC, so Williams willy likely have to account for his departure as well.

But Williams isn’t only paying attention to the 2019 class as he has his eyes on 2020 as well.

One of Williams’ targets in that 2020 class is point guard Jeremy Roach who is ranked as the top player at his position, the state of Virginia and is considered a top 20 recruit overall in the class.

Roach recently picked up an offer from Williams and UNC back in September and has a total of 10 offers thus far. He holds offers from Villanova, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Texas, Virginia, Virginia Tech and USC.

With still a ways to go before the 2020 classes start to come to shape, Roach is ready to start moving his recruitment forward a bit. The point guard is beginning to plan some official and unofficial visits, beginning with an official to Duke soon.

He also revealed he would like to visit UNC at some point according to 247 Sports recruiting analyst Evan Daniels.

“I’m taking a visit to Duke next week,” Roach said via Daniels. “I’m trying to get some more visits to Kentucky and then try to go down to UNC.”

Roach also mentioned in the interview that he plans on trimming his list down in the next couple of months.

The Tar Heels currently have one verbal commitment in the 2020 class with it coming from center Day’Ron Sharpe back in June. The four-star recruit has really elevated his play over the Summer and is starting to climb recruiting rankings.

With Sharpe verbally committed, UNC is looking to add to this 2020 class. If they can do so, along with landing a top 10 2019 class, the future will be very bright for the Tar Heels.
