Day’Ron Sharpe is the lone 2020 verbal commit for the UNC Basketball program and he made a recent visit to campus

Four-star power forward Day’Ron Sharpe became the first player to offer his verbal commitment to the North Carolina Tar Heels 2020 recruiting class. Sharpe committed on Father’s Day after visiting Chapel Hill for the weekend and has UNC off to a great start in the 2020 class.

While Roy Williams and his staff still have some work to do in the 2019 and 2020 classes, it’s nice to have a solid four-star player like Sharpe already verbally committed for the future.

Sharpe won’t officially be a Tar Heel for 2 more years but already he’s on campus and hanging around the facilities with the team.

The Winterville, North Carolina product shared on his Snapchat account that he was in Chapel Hill watching the Tar Heels practice Sunday. Sharpe was at the practice facility watching the 2018-19 team.

UNC is prepping for their upcoming trip to the Bahamas to play in two exhibition games this weekend something they did back in 2014 when they played at Paradise Island.  The Tar Heels are allowed to host some practices due to the exhibition games in what otherwise would be a no practice period by the NCAA.

As for Sharpe, this is his first trip to UNC’s campus since offering his verbal about six weeks ago but expect him to be a visitor often during his recruitment.

Sharpe is currently ranked 37th in the 2020 class in 247 Sports’ Composite rankings and is 5th at his position and 3rd in the state of North Carolina. He’s recently improved his game and climbed the rankings on multiple recruiting sites.

He received some praise three weeks ago while participating in the adidas Gauntlet event as Rivals reporter Eric Bossi gave his scouting report on the forward. Since then, it’s been nothing but good news in regards to Sharpe’s game.

We imagine Sharpe will take that next step sometime between his junior and senior year and earn that five-star player. With that, his ranking would climb and he could end up as a Top 20 player.
