Former UNC players celebrated the Tar Heels national championship by posting messages on Twitter

Monday night saw the North Carolina Tar Heels pick up another National Championship when as they defeated the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Phoenix.

The game was back-and-forth with both teams taking a lead in the final minutes. But when it mattered the most, UNC found a way to get a key bucket and a few defensive stops.

After Isaiah Hicks put UNC up by 3 with just 27 seconds left, the Tar Heels got a big defensive stop from Kennedy Meeks who blocked Nigel Williams-Gross’ floater.

From there, UNC scored three more points to seal the deal on a 71-65 win.

Immediately following the win, the Tar Heels celebrated on the court as they embraced the moment they were crowned champions.

Theo Pinson even rushed to the stands to find his family and share a special moment that was all captured on video.

But they weren’t the only ones.

Fans, former players, future players and more all expressed their feelings on social media posting messages about the team’s win.

UNC’s brotherhood of former players were in attendance again on Monday night, with the total reaching somewhere near 50.

Here are some reactions to the Tar Heels win from former and future Tar Heels:

It’s always great to see former players react like this and show their support to the team following a big win.

At UNC, being a Tar Heel is different.

As we mentioned earlier, it’s a brotherhood. When you come to play at UNC, you stay here forever with a few exceptions. The turnout of close to 50 former players in attendance is just another example of that.
