The 2014-15 North Carolina Tar Heels basketball schedule has officially been released by the school this afternoon. While the non-conference schedule was already out, the Atlantic Coast Conference made their schedule official.
The Tar Heels will play a 18-game conference schedule that includes two games each with rivals Duke and North Carolina State. In addition, the Tar Heels will host Syracuse, Notre Dame and Louisville for the first time in ACC play.
The non-conference schedule includes a matchup against Ohio State in Chicago as part of the CBS Classic. This years ACC/Big Ten Challenge will have the Tar Heels hosting Iowa on December 3rd. To round-off the schedule, the Tar Heels will travel to Rupp Arena to take on Kentucky.
National television will be a big part of the Heels schedule this season as they are expected to be one of the top teams in the nation. The Heels will be on the ESPN family of networks at least 22 times, with the possibility of more. The schedule also includes three games on CBS.
The team certainly has one of the toughest schedules in the country, playing 14 games against teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last season.
