Another former North Carolina Tar Heel has found a new home in the NBA. Former Tar Heel Vince Carter has agreed to a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, sources said on Friday.
Carter agrees to a 3-year-deal worth $12M. Carter recently played for the Dallas Mavericks and averaged 11.9 points per game this past season. The Mavericks were trying to bring Carter back to the team as he became a free agent, but it now looks like Carter will join Memphis.
The two teams were far apart with negotiations and Carter accepted his deal with the Grizzlies, who will look for him to replace Mike Miller.
This will be the 37-year-old’s seventh different team since being drafted by the Toronto Raptors in 1998 out of UNC. Carter still has some touch on his offensive game and can be a valuable asset to a Grizzlies team who surprised a lot of people last season.
