A pair of former North Carolina Tar Heels are involved in a trade between the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. The deal sent Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to Dallas and Wayne Ellington, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Larkin to New York. The Knicks also acquire two 2014 second-round draft picks.
Felton will now compliment the Mavericks guards and should receive a good amount of playing time. With the Knicks struggles, Ellington might see the floor more often than he did in Dallas. Coming out of college Ellington struggled in his first couple seasons in the NBA as a pure shooter. Another change of scenery might help his cause. Felton on the other hand has had a very serviceable career with a few different teams.
For his career Felton has averaged 13.1 points and 6.5 assists per game. Ellington has averaged 6.4 points and 1 assists per game. Both were part of a National Championship team under Roy Williams. Felton won in 2005 and Ellington won in 2009.
