The North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team is headed to the Bahamas, according to ESPN’s Andy Katz. In a post on ESPN.com, Katz writes,
NCAA men’s basketball teams are allowed to go on a foreign trip every four years, but rarely have so many high-major programs gone to the same location within a few weeks of each other like they will this August in the Bahamas.
Likely preseason No. 1 Kentucky, ACC title contender North Carolina, 2014 NCAA tournament teams Ohio State, Pitt, Cincinnati, and a possible 2015 tourney squad in Ole Miss highlight 13 Division I teams that will play staggered exhibition games in the Bahamas from Aug. 2 to Aug. 25.
Teams are allowed to practice a maximum of 10 times prior to leaving on the trip.
After that trip, the Tar Heels will return to the Bahamas for the “Battle 4 Atlantis” tournament later on in the season. Wisconsin and Florida are among the other teams participating in the tournament from November 26th to 28th. UAB, coached by former Tar Heel assistant Jerod Haase, is also in the field.

The trip will be a great opportunity for the young freshman and season veterans to mingle and to get some extra practice time in before the season starts. Also, it will be a great time for Roy Williams and crew to relax and get some beach time!
