The NBA Draft is just a few weeks away and we have already seen numerous workouts for players by certain teams. North Carolina’s P.J. Hairston has had a few with teams interested and now Leslie McDonald is scheduled for a workout.
According to Charlotte Hornets beat writer Rick Bonnell, McDonald is scheduled to workout for the Hornets today. McDonald has seen his draft stock plummet the past two or so seasons as injuries plagued the shooting guard. McDonald was slated as a Wayne Ellington’s replacement, but never really filled that role for the Tar Heels. Last season he averaged 10.4 points per game and a three-point percentage of .312.
His stock isn’t high and many teams probably don’t have him on their list, so an un-drafted free agent might be McDonald’s route to the NBA.
If a team does take the chance on McDonald, I cant see it being any higher than a late second round pick. He could sign after the draft and play on a NBA Summer League team trying to earn a spot on a roster.
