Tar Heels ranked 14th in AP Poll

The North Carolina Tar Heels have jumped up in the polls to the 14th slot. UNC is the fourth highest ACC team in the Week 18 poll, behind Duke, Syracuse, and Virginia. The Heels, who had wins over NC State and Virginia Tech in the past week, climbed five spots in the polls over last week.

In the poll, Florida is ranked first in the country and Wichita State is second overall. Florida actually has two losses compared to the Shockers, but Florida has played a much tougher schedule than Wichita. Rounding out the top five is Arizona, Duke and Virginia, giving the ACC two top-five teams and three of the top seven teams in the country. Syracuse is the final ACC team in the top seven, but they have fallen from the first spot after losses to Boston College, Duke and Virginia.

According to the AP Poll, the Heels would be in line for a four seed as the 14th best team in the country. With games still remaining against Notre Dame and Duke, UNC still has some room to move up and possibly jump into the top 10 before the ACC tournament. UNC plays Notre Dame tonight and then has some time off before the big match-up in Cameron Indoor between the Heels and the Devils on Saturday night.
