The North Carolina Tar Heels were set to kick off their 2014 baseball season on Friday in Chapel Hill against the College of Charleston. With snow and ice hammering the Triangle area in North Carolina, the Tar Heels were forced to move their opening weekend festivities to Charleston.

Benton Moss will get the first start of the season for the Tar Heels against CoC’s Nathan Helvey.

Due to extreme winter weather in Chapel Hill, the North Carolina baseball team will open its 2014 season Saturday, Feb. 15, at the College of Charleston. The Tar Heels and Cougars will play Saturday at 2 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m., and Monday at 1 p.m., at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, S.C. Fans with tickets for this weekend’s games at Boshamer Stadium can exchange them for tickets to any remaining regular season home game, based on availability.

The Tar Heels will instead kick off their 2014 home season a week from this Friday on the 21st of February in a three-game series against Xavier. North Carolina’s next road series will be several weeks into March when they play the Maryland Terrapins in College Park.
