North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Duke Blue Devils: Game officially postponed

Tonight the North Carolina Tar Heels were scheduled to host the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils in the first of the two regularly scheduled games this season. However, mother nature had some other plans and has dumped snow and ice all over the state and RDU region.

The Chapel Hill PD reported early Wednesday afternoon that all of the street in Chapel Hill were on gridlock. As expected with unsafe roads and horrendous winter weather hammering the Triangle, tonight’s North Carolina vs. Duke game has been canceled.

According to multiple sources the game has been canceled for tonight and an official announcement is expected soon.

Most of the south and the entire state of North Carolina is experiencing winter storms today. Yesterday, the first of a one-two punch of winter storms hit the Triangle and surrounding areas. Wednesday, the storms returned and are expected to be even worse through the night tonight.

As we learn more about this developing story, Keeping It Heel will keep you updated. Obviously this game will go on later down the road when the ACC can arrange and work out the details!
