Game Preview: North Carolina Tar Heels vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack

Today marks the 223rd meeting between the North Carolina Tar Heels and the North Carolina State Wolfpack. With 147 victories over the Wolfpack, the Tar Heels are searching for No. 148 in order to keep the NCAA tournament hopes alive. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack need win No. 77 against the Tar Heels to keep theirs alive too.

North Carolina is on a two game winning streak that they hope continues to three with a win over the Wolfpack. Both Carolina and State are on winning streaks, so for one team it will end this afternoon.

Despite shooting over 70% at the free throw line, Roy Williams believes the woes of North Carolina’s free throw shooting still exist. After struggling all season long, can the Tar Heels continue to show consistency at the free throw line and put the struggles behind them?

North Carolina has had two solid games in a row offensively and defensively. While they haven’t reached their potential just yet, they’ve shown glimpses of just how good this team really is. North Carolina State will offer the young Tar Heels a chance to prove themselves and continue to showcase their argument for the NCAA tournament later this season.
